Tarka the Otter is a 1927 novel by Henry Williamson. It describes the story of Tarka, a wild Eurasian otter living in Devon, England, from his birth to his death. Tarka the Otter was highly successful upon release and is credited with inspiring a change in public attitude to otters, which had commonly been seen as vermin. The novel was adapted to film in 1974.
